About Tao Hong
Located at 79 Chrystie St, New York, NY 10002, Tao Hong operates as an asian bakery serving New York in New York. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.
Hours at these spots often run into the evening, later than a typical coffee shop, and many stay open on weekends when demand is highest in New York. Seasonal and limited-time drink or dessert flavors are common, so a shop's current menu can differ from what is posted online; checking recent photos or calling ahead helps. Some locations in New York are dessert-only with no seating, meant for takeout, while others have cafe-style seating for staying a while. Straws for bubble tea are typically wide to accommodate the toppings, and are provided automatically unless you ask for a regular one. Loyalty apps and stamp cards are common at chain locations, and ordering ahead through an app can shorten a wait considerably at busy locations during peak after-school and after-dinner hours.
The business lists hours on 7 days of the week. On most of those days it is open 8 am–6 pm. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. You can reach Tao Hong at (212) 219-0981; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions.
Customers rate it 4.8 out of 5 on Google across 211 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded asian bakeries in New York.
New York is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around New York is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across New York's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Incredible egg tart, by far - warm and fresh out of the oven!! HK milk tea tasted great without much sugar too!

5/26/2026 Stopped in for one of those pineapple and pork buns that I heard about in Chinatown and it did not disappoint. The shop was small but had a lot to offer for sure plenty of fresh baked goods, amazing cheap pricing and a homely feel to the place. The bun was way better than I expected lil sweet and savory and filled well. Stop by if your waiting in line next door for sure

Chinatown hole in the wall known for its buns and egg tarts. The tarts are very good esp the Hong Kong style. Flaky pastry. Silky egg and at 1.75 , a steal. The Portuguese egg tart the custard is denser, eggier. Right next to Wah Fung where you can grab a cheap but good rice plate with bbq pork, duck and or chicken.

My husband and I absolutely loved the egg tarts! They were freshly made and still warm when we bought 2 of them. We had to go back in after one bite because we needed more. We bought 5 total for the two of us!! They reminded us of a crème brûlée in a tart shell!

I lucked out and got my egg tart right after it was baked! It was piping hot and sooo delicious! The crust was flaky and crispy, and the filling was jiggly, custardy, and slightly sweet. The whole thing was a symphony of textures, starting with the lightly crisp crust and ending with the soft egg melting in my mouth 🤤. I also got a red bean moon cake which was great! The red bean paste was smooth and sweet, and the crust was perfectly baked and beautifully designed. I would highly recommend this bakery and hope I get a chance to come back!
